Gear
Backpack
- Minaal Daily Bag. The original daily.
Well made. Picks up lint easily. Not sure how much I like the
lack of structure but overall minor complaints
Devices
- Thinkpad P14s. Standard issue. A bit
big and a bit heavy. Preferred the X13.
- iPhone 12 Mini. Love the form factor. Battery life not
the best.
- iPhone 13. Work issued. When we upgrade to a model with
USB-C, I'll look at replacing the mini so I can get rid of
lightning cables.
- Polar H10. For the occasional times I go running/biking.
Strap has taken a bit of beating lying around in the bag, but
still works.
- Kindle Paperwhite 3. Had this since 2016. Still runs
pretty much perfectly. Case is falling apart. Tempted to upgrade
for the USB-C but mouse still uses Micro-USB.
- OURA Ring: Gen3. Mainly for tracking sleep (or lack
thereof). Battery went bad on the first one, but they sent me a
replacement, which has been chugging along.
- Logitech Mx Egro. Trackball mouse. A bit bulky and
sometimes get stopped at the airport so they can check it's not
a drone. Switches went bad, but had them switched out and now it
works perfectly.
Audio
- Airpods Pro 2 (USB-C). Bought these when
my QC35s broke, and haven't felt the need to replace it. Great.
- Sennheiser SC130 (USB-C). I normally keep these in my
bag, in case I need to jump on call. Bit of fraying near the
plug, have put some tape on it for now.
- Sony Wired Headphones (Aux). Backup pair. Works decently
if you have to take calls.
- Apple Wired Headphones (Lightning). Another backup pair.
Used to hate the shape but they are starting to grow on me.
Charging
- Anker 735 - 65W Charger. Pretty small and compact,
sometimes has issues when outputting across 3 devices.
- Oura Charger. Have to carry this around to charge the
ring. At the moment ends up being every ~4-5 days.
- Anker 334 MagGo. Replacement for the Anker PowerCore.
It's a bit big and I'm not sure how much I like the MagSafe
charging. Feels a bit wasteful, and the phone gets a bit hot.
Might switch to one with a built in cable.
- Apple C to Lightning. Keep this in my tech pouch for
charging my phone(s) during the day.
- Baseus 100W/5A retractable cable. Testing this out -
inspired by Matt Mullenweg. Been eyeing these for a while, but
they only recently showed up in Amazon Saudi. Current one is a
bit short, might pick up the longer version at one point.
- InCharge Keychain. Cool little key chain thing.
I use it as a micro USB cable for my mouse and kindle.
- Apple USB to Lightning. Use this in the hotel for
charging my phone (most hotels seem to have USB adapters).
- SENDEM USB-C Cable. Generic cable with built in adapters for
lightning/USB. Also used for charging my phone/ring/airpods in the hotel.
- Anker USB-C Cable. Powerline V2 I think. Used to use this
before the Baseus. If I'm happy with the Baseus I'll probably
drop this at one point.
Other Items
- Tomtoc Tech Pouch. Nice little pouch I use to store my
tech essentials (mouse, charger, etc). Find it more convenient
to just grab the pouch than it is to root the bag looking for
stuff.
- AirTag. Just in case. Learnt my lesson from losing my
wallet...
- Card Pouch. Mesh card bag I got in Malaysia. Use it to
keep bank cards and some panadol/plasters/etc.
- Cash Pouch. Back up pouch for holding cash that you
don't want to be carrying on your person.
- Sunglasses (ROKA). Powered. Nice to have when I remember
to wear them.
- Alaska Bear Eye Mask. The closest to blackout I've found so
far. Used to have the wraparound version, but left it in a
hotel. These are better anyway.
- Pills Organizer. For various supplements. Just slightly
more convenient than taking them 1 by 1.
- Silicon Earplugs. Used to use them for swimming and
sometimes sleeping, but I got custom ones made, so they are just
hanging around my bag for now.
- Notebook. For work. Always good to have in case you
can't take notes on your laptop for whatever reason.
- Uniball Pens. Two pens. Uniball Signo and Uniball Micro.
Not my absolute favourite pens, but pretty good.
- Nicotine Gum. Pick it up sometimes. Find it helps me
focus, but if I don't have them with me I normally end up not
using them for months.
- Playing Cards. Sometimes come in handy if you're trying
to kill time at the airport. Endless games of Gin Rummy.
- Office Card. Office access card. Nothing too exciting.
- Lip Balm. For the winter months.
- Poy-Sian. Menthol inhaler. Good when you have a bit of
stuffed nose.
- Wool Buff. Pretty useful on flights and when it's a bit
cold out. This one has been with me all over the place.
- Tie. You never know when you might get called
into a meeting that needs a bit more formality.
- Raincover. Comes with the bag. Useful in more rainy climates.
